Pimoroni

As a leading player in the electronic components industry, Pimoroni specializes in designing, manufacturing, and distributing innovative and user-friendly electronic products tailored for Makers, Educators, and Creatives. Established in 2012 by industry pioneers Jon Williamson and Paul Beech, our company has become a prominent innovator in the maker electronics ecosystem. Our journey began shortly after Paul Beech won a competition to design the original Raspberry Pi logo, which helped us gain early support from the Raspberry Pi community and the global maker community. Our mission is to democratize electronics by making electronic components and DIY kits accessible, engaging, and visually appealing to a broader audience. Pimoroni has experienced consistent growth, averaging 80% annually since inception, and now employs over 30 dedicated professionals at our headquarters in Sheffield, UK. Our international reach is supported by an extensive network of over 50 worldwide distributors, enabling us to supply electronic components and DIY electronics kits across the globe. We are also recognized as the largest Adafruit reseller in the UK, expanding our footprint in the electronic components retail market. Our product lineup includes popular items like the Picade, a comprehensive kit that transforms the Raspberry Pi into a desktop arcade machine—one of our flagship projects launched via Kickstarter’s UK platform. The name “Pimoroni” reflects our playful brand identity, inspired by pirate, monkey, robot, and ninja themes (Pi-Mo-Ro-Ni), symbolizing creativity, innovation, and fun. Pronounced Pih-mo-row-knee, our branding is characterized by our iconic pirate mascot and adventurous spirit, appealing to electronics enthusiasts and DIY electronics hobbyists worldwide.
